1616 AN ACT
1717 To amend Code Section 20-2-154 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the

1919 remedial education program under the "Quality Basic Education Act," so as to provide for2
2020 the State Board of Education to establish a grant program for supplemental remedial3
2121 education services in literacy and math for all students in kindergarten through grade 12 who4
2222 attend one of the lowest performing five percent of public schools in the state; to provide5
2323 for a short title; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other6
2424 purposes.7
2525 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:8
2626 SECTION 1.9
2727 This Act shall be known and may be cited as the "Student Success Support Act."10
2828 SECTION 2.11
2929 Code Section 20-2-154 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the remedial12
3030 education program under the "Quality Basic Education Act," is amended by adding a new13
3131 subsection to read as follows:14

3434 "(c) Subject to appropriations, the State Board of Education shall establish a program to15
3535 provide up to a total of $3 million per school year in grants to local school systems and16
3636 public schools to be used to provide supplemental remedial education services to address17
3737 the respective literacy and math deficiencies of students in kindergarten through grade 1218
3838 who attend a public school that performed in the lowest five percent of all public schools19
3939 based on the cumulative individual school ratings, as provided for in subsection (d) of Code20
4040 Section 20-14-33, for the two most recent school years for which the Office of Student21
4141 Achievement issued such ratings."22
4242 SECTION 3.23
4343 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.24
