1717 To amend Code Section 20-2-149.4 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to

1919 financial literacy instruction and curriculum, so as to require the State Board of Education2
2020 to adopt content standards for instruction in financial literacy and money management for3
2121 grades four and five; to require local boards of education to provide instruction in financial4
2222 literacy and money management in grades four and five; to provide for related matters; to5
2323 repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.6
2424 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:7
2525 SECTION 1.8
2626 Code Section 20-2-149.4 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to financial9
2727 literacy instruction and curriculum, is amended by adding a new subsection to read as10
2828 follows:11
2929 "(c)(1) No later than January 1, 2026, the State Board of Education shall adopt content

3131 standards for instruction in financial literacy and money management to be completed by13
3232 students in grades four and five.14

3535 (2) Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, each local board of education shall provide15
3636 instruction in financial literacy and money management for students in grades four and16
3737 five, and such instruction may be incorporated into an existing course of study."17
3838 SECTION 2.18
3939 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.19
