1010 Georgia Annotated, relating to compulsory attendance in elementary and secondary2
1111 education, so as to prohibit a public school, private school, or home school program from3
1212 requiring a child who has successfully completed all requirements for a high school diploma4
1313 to take or attend classes for any additional course; to provide for related matters; to repeal5
1414 conflicting laws; and for other purposes.6
1515 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:7

1717 Subpart 2 of Part 1 of Article 16 of Chapter 2 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia9
1818 Annotated, relating to compulsory attendance in elementary and secondary education, is10
1919 amended in Code Section 20-2-690.1, relating to mandatory education for children between11
2020 ages six and 16, by revising subsection (a) as follows:12
2121 "(a)(1) Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection, mandatory

2323 Mandatory attendance in a public school, private school, or home school program shall14
2424 be required for children between their sixth and sixteenth birthdays. 15

2727 (2) Mandatory Such mandatory attendance shall not be required where the child has for16
2828 children between their sixth and sixteenth birthdays who have successfully completed all17
2929 requirements for a high school diploma. No child who is in his or her final semester of18
3030 high school shall be required to take or attend classes for any course or courses beyond19
3131 the minimum coursework necessary for a high school diploma."20

3333 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.22
