1616 Recognizing and commending the interfaith organizations and volunteers involved in disaster

1818 cleanup efforts; and for other purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has faced numerous natural disasters that have caused3
2020 significant damage and hardship to its residents; and4
2121 WHEREAS, in times of crisis, communities come together to support one another,5
2222 demonstrating the strength and resilience of the human spirit; and6
2323 WHEREAS, interfaith and religious organizations and volunteers have played a crucial role7
2424 in disaster cleanup efforts, providing essential services, resources, and support to those8
2525 affected; and9
2626 WHEREAS, these interfaith efforts have fostered unity, understanding, and cooperation10
2727 among diverse religious communities, showcasing the power of collaboration and11
2828 compassion; and12

3131 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of these volunteers has significantly contributed
3232 13
3333 to the recovery and rebuilding of affected areas, helping to restore hope and normalcy to the14
3434 lives of many Georgians; and15
3535 WHEREAS, according to reports from local faith-based organizations, tens of thousands of16
3636 volunteers participated in disaster relief efforts in Georgia following Hurricane Helene,17
3737 contributing more than one million total volunteer hours, with teams working in some of the18
3838 most impacted areas to clear debris, repair homes, and provide direct assistance to many19
3939 thousands of affected residents; and20
4040 WHEREAS, many churches and faith organizations came to their fellow citizens' needs for21
4141 disaster relief; and 22
4242 WHEREAS, volunteer labor from church members and faith-based organizations, who23
4343 traveled from as far away as South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida to help24
4444 Georgia homeowners in need, included efforts such as tending to damaged homes, removing25
4545 fallen trees, and cleaning up storm debris.26
4646 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
4747 the members of this body recognize and commend the invaluable contributions of the28
4848 interfaith organizations and volunteers in disaster cleanup efforts as well as encourage29
4949 continued support and collaboration among all communities to strengthen our collective30
5050 ability to respond to and recover from future disasters.31
5151 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32
5252 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the33
5353 leaders of the interfaith organizations involved in disaster cleanup efforts.34
