19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has faced numerous natural disasters that have caused3 |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, in times of crisis, communities come together to support one another,5 |

22 | 22 | | demonstrating the strength and resilience of the human spirit; and6 |

23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, interfaith and religious organizations and volunteers have played a crucial role7 |

24 | 24 | | in disaster cleanup efforts, providing essential services, resources, and support to those8 |

26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, these interfaith efforts have fostered unity, understanding, and cooperation10 |

27 | 27 | | among diverse religious communities, showcasing the power of collaboration and11 |

33 | 33 | | to the recovery and rebuilding of affected areas, helping to restore hope and normalcy to the14 |

35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, according to reports from local faith-based organizations, tens of thousands of16 |

36 | 36 | | volunteers participated in disaster relief efforts in Georgia following Hurricane Helene,17 |

37 | 37 | | contributing more than one million total volunteer hours, with teams working in some of the18 |
---|
38 | 38 | | most impacted areas to clear debris, repair homes, and provide direct assistance to many19 |
---|
39 | 39 | | thousands of affected residents; and20 |

40 | 40 | | WHEREAS, many churches and faith organizations came to their fellow citizens' needs for21 |

41 | 41 | | disaster relief; and 22 |

42 | 42 | | WHEREAS, volunteer labor from church members and faith-based organizations, who23 |

43 | 43 | | traveled from as far away as South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida to help24 |

44 | 44 | | Georgia homeowners in need, included efforts such as tending to damaged homes, removing25 |
---|
45 | 45 | | fallen trees, and cleaning up storm debris.26 |

46 | 46 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 |

47 | 47 | | the members of this body recognize and commend the invaluable contributions of the28 |
---|
48 | 48 | | interfaith organizations and volunteers in disaster cleanup efforts as well as encourage29 |
---|
49 | 49 | | continued support and collaboration among all communities to strengthen our collective30 |

50 | 50 | | ability to respond to and recover from future disasters.31 |

51 | 51 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32 |

52 | 52 | | and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the33 |
