25 LC 129 0088 House Resolution 137 By: Representatives Gullett of the 19 th , Gambill of the 15 th , New of the 40 th , Scoggins of the 14 th , Momtahan of the 17 th , and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Mr. Tim Williams for his outstanding service to GreyStone 1 Power as well as the communities and members it serves; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Mr. Tim Williams has embodied the cooperative spirit over his 40-plus years3 of service at GreyStone Power; and4 WHEREAS, he has diligently worked to make life better in the communities GreyStone5 serves through his leadership in communications and crisis management since beginning his6 career at the electric cooperative in October 1984; and7 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams served as an editorial specialist, communication specialist,8 director of public relations and education, and vice president of cooperate affairs before his9 promotion to his current role as vice president of marketing and external affairs; and10 WHEREAS, GreyStone Power and its members have benefitted from Mr. Williams' expertise11 through several major events, including the rebranding to GreyStone Power from its previous12 name of Douglas County EMC and helping lead communication efforts during major storm13 events such as the Storm of the Century in 1993 and the destructive Hurricane Opal, which14 left 96 percent of GreyStone Power members without power in 1995; and15 H. R. 137 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0088 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams has been instrumental in strengthening ties with local, state, and 16 federal legislative leaders, working to ensure that legislative and regulatory policies protected17 and benefitted cooperative members; and18 WHEREAS, during Mr. Williams' leadership of the marketing and affairs division,19 GreyStone Power earned the coveted Edgar F. Chesnutt Award for Best Total20 Communication Program from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in 201421 and the 2019 J.D. Power Award for ranking highest in customer satisfaction in the J.D.22 Power Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study; and23 WHEREAS, appointed by Governor Nathan Deal in 2013 and reappointed in 2018 by24 Governor Brain Kemp, Mr. Williams served on the Technical College System of Georgia25 State Board; and26 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams is known for his caring attitude, jovial personality, and giving27 heart; he and his wife Nancy have two children, Anna and Tom, and are active members in28 their community and church.29 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30 the members of this body recognize and commend Mr. Tim Williams for his exemplary31 service to Greystone Power, congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement, and32 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mr.35 Tim Williams.36 H.
