A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Gina Gallois; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Gina Gallois has dedicated her career to educating and inspiring children2
through literature, using her passion for storytelling to foster a greater appreciation for3
wildlife and neurodiversity; and4
WHEREAS, her lifelong environmentalism and love of animals led her to recognize a5
widespread lack of awareness about opossums in 2019, motivating her to take action by6
visiting numerous classrooms and nature centers to share her appreciation for misunderstood7
and under-represented critters; and8
WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to environmental education, the Oatland9
Island Wildlife Center in Savannah, Georgia, inaugurated a permanent storybook trail in10
2024 featuring Mama Opossum's Misadventures in both English and Spanish, allowing11
visitors to engage with her work while learning about local wildlife; and12
WHEREAS, as the mother of two autistic children, she and her husband, Fabien, have13
embraced and advocated for neurodiversity, and she has used her experiences to create such14

wonderful works as Quantum Possum, which celebrates the diverse ways in which
15
individuals experience the world; and16
WHEREAS, her Awesome Opossum Stories series, which introduces young readers to17
fundamental concepts such as opposites, counting, comparison, and alphabet action verbs18
through engaging narratives, has been honored with the prestigious Mom's Choice Gold19
Award; and20
WHEREAS, her distinguished literary contributions further include the Bug Club Story21
series, featuring Cicada City and Moth Metamorphosis, as well as I Don't Want to be Scary22
on Halloween and Cats and Dogs Make the Best of Friends; and23
WHEREAS, as an advocate for multilingual literacy and a former professor of French24
language and literature, she has ensured her books are available in French and Spanish in25
addition to English; and26
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distinguished individual be27
appropriately honored.28
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29
the members of this body recognize and commend Gina Gallois for her outstanding30
contributions to childhood education, advocacy, and environmentalism as well as extend best31
wishes for future health and happiness.32
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized33
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Gina34
Gallois. 35
