16	16	Commending the Archibald Bulloch Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the

18	18	American Revolution on its 61st anniversary; and for other purposes.2
19	19	WHEREAS, the State of Georgia was founded by General James Edward Oglethorpe, who3
20	20	received a royal charter to establish the 13th American colony in honor of King George II4
21	21	and led 116 pioneers aboard the HMS Anne, landing near present-day Savannah on February5
22	22	12, 1733; and6
23	23	WHEREAS, since its founding 292 years ago, Georgia has grown from a settlement of early7
24	24	colonists to a thriving state with an estimated population of 11 million, transitioning from a8
25	25	predominantly rural economy to the commercial, financial, and cultural center of the9
26	26	Southeast; and10
27	27	WHEREAS, Bulloch County was established in 1796 as Georgia's 21st county, formed from11
28	28	St. Philip's Parish and named in honor of Archibald Bulloch, a delegate to the Continental12
29	29	Congress of 1775 and Georgia's first governor in 1776; and13
30	30	WHEREAS, the Archibald Bulloch Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the14
31	31	American Revolution was organized on February 29, 1964, with 17 charter members,15

40	40	WHEREAS, for more than six decades, the Archibald Bulloch Chapter has demonstrated21
41	41	leadership at the local and state levels, contributed to national projects, and diligently worked22
42	42	to uphold the objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism; and23
43	43	WHEREAS, the chapter actively assists and encourages women in researching their24
44	44	genealogy to identify patriots who served in the American Revolutionary War from April 19,25
45	45	1775, to September 3, 1783, or who provided military service support; and26
46	46	WHEREAS, under the leadership of Regent Martha Ann Tanner for the 2024-2026 term, the27
47	47	Archibald Bulloch Chapter continues to promote awareness of Georgia's rich history and the28
48	48	significance of the state's founding; and29
49	49	WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distinguished organization be30
50	50	appropriately honored.31
51	51	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that32
52	52	the members of this body commend the Archibald Bulloch Chapter of the National Society33
53	53	Daughters of the American Revolution upon the grand occasion of both its 61st anniversary34
54	54	and this year's Georgia Day, which the chapter will celebrate on February 13, 2025, with an35
55	55	open luncheon in Statesboro, Georgia.36

58	58	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
