| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is a comprehensive body of research,2 |

| 17 | 17 | | knowledge, and skills that helps people make informed decisions about their well-being,3 |

|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, with a unique focus on families, work, and their inter-relationships, FCS5 |

| 20 | 20 | | professionals have long worked to empower individuals and families in Georgia to better6 |

| 21 | 21 | | manage the challenges of living and working in a diverse global society; and7 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, national, state, and local policy makers; education administrators; and the public8 |

| 23 | 23 | | need an understanding of FCS and its direct relevance to the serious societal concerns of9 |

| 24 | 24 | | today, such as obesity; food safety; financial literacy; the complexities of family life; and the10 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | role of parents, caregivers, and other adults in preparing children for school readiness; and11 |

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, FCS professionals continue to provide relevant and useful resources to help12 |

| 27 | 27 | | students prepare for careers in teaching, extension, human services, and a variety of other13 |

| 37 | 37 | | understanding of the important role that the organization plays in preparing families to20 |

| 38 | 38 | | successfully manage the many and varied challenges of everyday life.21 |

| 39 | 39 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22 |

| 44 | 44 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 |
