1616 Recognizing January 28, 2025, as Physical Therapy Day at the state capitol; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia supports options for an active and healthy lifestyle; and3
2020 WHEREAS, the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia represents the public's4
2121 best interests by recommending physical therapy provided by licensed physical therapists;5
2222 and6
2323 WHEREAS, the mission of the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia is to7
2424 represent and promote the profession of physical therapy with integrity, excellence, and8
2525 collaboration, thereby best serving and advocating for the people of Georgia; and9
2626 WHEREAS, the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia improves Georgians'10
2727 quality of life through the pursuit of improved access, stable provider networks, adequate11
2828 reimbursement, and quality healthcare delivery; and12
2929 WHEREAS, physical therapists in Georgia are held to high educational and professional13
3030 standards such as earning a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and a state license,14

3333 demonstrating continuing competency in providing examination and treatment for conditions

3535 that limit movement and functional activity, and preventing the loss of mobility before it16
3636 occurs; and17
3737 WHEREAS, physical therapist assistants complete an associate's degree and are licensed to18
3838 provide selected physical therapy treatments under the direction and supervision of physical19
3939 therapists; and20
4040 WHEREAS, each year, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants come to the state21
4141 capitol to discuss the benefits of physical therapy and how it helps improve mobility, health,22
4242 fitness, and wellness; and23
4343 WHEREAS, the more than 10,000 members of the American Physical Therapy Association24
4444 of Georgia provide expert examination and treatment of the movement systems to improve25
4545 health, fitness, wellness, and mobility across the lifespan; and26
4646 WHEREAS, it is estimated that more than 496,000 Georgians require the care of a physical27
4747 therapist each year.28
4848 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29
4949 the members of this body commend the American Physical Therapy Association of Georgia30
5050 and its members for their continued dedication to promoting the health and wellness of31
5151 Georgia's citizens by maintaining high standards of education, integrity, and excellence in32
5252 practice as well as recognize January 28, 2025, as Physical Therapy Day at the state capitol.33

5555 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized

5757 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the35
