25 LC 112 2822 House Resolution 171 By: Representatives Jackson of the 68 th , Bazemore of the 69 th , Gilliard of the 162 nd , Prince of the 132 nd , and Bell of the 75 th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry has demonstrated his commitment to teaching2 the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,3 psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and4 WHEREAS, he currently serves as the founding pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church PTC,5 which he established in January 2010 with a mission to strive for excellence in worship,6 witness, and work; and7 WHEREAS, under his visionary leadership, Cornerstone Baptist Church PTC grew from8 holding worship services in leased spaces to securing a permanent worship facility on a9 21-acre campus in Fayette County, Georgia, within three years of its founding; and10 WHEREAS, Reverend Curry is a third-generation Baptist preacher who was licensed to11 preach in 1993 and ordained in 1998 by Emmanuel Baptist Church and the Salem Baptist12 District Association of Chicago, Illinois, and he has since shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ13 across the nation; and14 H. R. 171 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2822 WHEREAS, as testament to his exemplary spiritual service, he was honored in March 2014 15 when he was inducted into the distinguished Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of16 Morehouse College; and17 WHEREAS, Reverend Curry further serves as a member of the State Bar of Georgia and has18 made significant contributions as a noted trial attorney, including his service as legal advisor19 for the Legal Redress Commission of the Fayette County N.A.A.C.P.; and20 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments21 of the dynamic Christian ministry of this devout and pious man.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend Dr. Augustus T. Curry for his24 many years of dedicated service on behalf of his fellow citizens as well as extend best wishes25 for continued success.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to28 Reverend Dr. Augustus T.
