| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, in 2023, the General Assembly recognized the importance of literacy with the6 |

| 23 | 23 | | passage of two bills: SB 211, which created the Georgia Council on Literacy, and HB 538,7 |

| 24 | 24 | | which required comprehensive education reforms for reading instruction in the science of8 |
|---|

| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy and its 30 members began work on July 1,10 |

| 27 | 27 | | 2023, monitoring the implementation of the Early Literacy Act, reviewing literacy data11 |

| 28 | 28 | | among various populations, and creating Georgia's 2030 State Literacy Plan with the goal12 |

| 29 | 29 | | of becoming the state with the greatest literacy gains in the country and ensuring that every13 |

| 30 | 30 | | child is a reader, every teacher is prepared, and every community is supported; and14 |

|---|
| 41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, through in-school programs, virtual challenges, and community partner22 |

| 42 | 42 | | programs, the Share the Magic Foundation has reached students not only in Atlanta and23 |

| 43 | 43 | | across Georgia but also in all 50 states and in 17 countries; and24 |

| 44 | 44 | | WHEREAS, Malcolm's ability to connect with young students makes his Read with Malcolm25 |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | programs effective in motivating children to read, parents to serve as role models, and26 |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | communities to join in turning around the state's literacy challenges and turning the page to27 |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | a brighter future for all Georgians.28 |

| 48 | 48 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that29 |
