1616 Recognizing and congratulating Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council's

1818 Executive Director Michael T. Ayers upon being awarded Georgia's Outstanding Police2
1919 Chief of the Year; and for other purposes.3
2020 WHEREAS, Executive Director Michael T. Ayers began his career in 1989 with the Hartwell4
2121 Police Department and subsequently joined the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in 1990,5
2222 rising to the rank of Special Agent in Charge; and6
2323 WHEREAS, he was appointed to the position of Executive Director of the Georgia Peace7
2424 Officers Standards and Training Council (POST) by Governor Brian P. Kemp on May 15,8
2525 2019; and9
2626 WHEREAS, Director Ayers graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of10
2727 Arts in criminal justice; and11
2828 WHEREAS, Director Ayers has graduated from advanced law enforcement leadership12
2929 programs such as the FBI National Academy, the Georgia Law Enforcement Professional13
3030 Management Program, and the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange Program;14

3434 WHEREAS, Director Ayers is a member of and has served as President of the International

3636 Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training; and17
3737 WHEREAS, under the leadership of Director Ayers, POST operations were modernized, and18
3838 he significantly contributed to the safety and efficiency of law enforcement throughout19
3939 Georgia while acknowledging the recruiting and retention challenges facing law enforcement20
4040 executives; and21
4141 WHEREAS, Director Ayers retired from service to the citizens of Georgia on January 2,22
4242 2025; and23
4343 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the impactful changes at POST,24
4444 which benefit all law enforcement as well as the citizens of the State of Georgia, brought25
4545 about by the visionary leadership of Executive Director Michael T. Ayers.26
4646 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
4747 the members of this body recognize and congratulate Georgia Peace Officers Standards and28
4848 Training Council's Executive Director Michael T. Ayers upon being awarded Georgia's29
4949 Outstanding Police Chief of the Year.30
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31
5151 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to32
5252 Executive Director Michael T. Ayers.33
