1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Recognizing Hemophilia of Georgia; and for other purposes.

1818 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a nationally and internationally recognized nonprofit2
1919 based in Sandy Springs that provides services and support to Georgians who have3
2020 hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and other inherited bleeding disorders; and4
2121 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia began its work in 1973; and5
2222 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia continues to meet its goal to help those who have6
2323 bleeding disorders live as normally and productively as possible; and7
2424 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia also serves as a member of the World Federation of8
2525 Hemophilia, enhancing the health and wellness of the bleeding disorder community by9
2626 providing comprehensive health care, education, advocacy, and support of research; and10
2727 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is in receipt of six-star status by the National11
2828 Hemophilia Foundation and is recognized as a Chapter of Excellence; and12

3131 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia employs numerous professionals, including

3333 pharmacists, nurses, and social workers, to provide critical services to its clients; and14
3434 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia provides specialized pharmacy services, outreach15
3535 nursing services, social support services, clinic and research funding, information,16
3636 educational services, and activities and programs to enhance care and quality of life for17
3737 people with bleeding disorders and their families; and18
3838 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia's specialty pharmacies have dual accreditation from the19
3939 Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Incorporated (ACHC) and the Utilization20
4040 Review Accreditation Commission, Incorporated (URAC), demonstrating a commitment to21
4141 high-quality standards of care; and22
4242 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia provides children with inherited bleeding disorders the23
4343 ability to live more normal lives, including opportunities to attend summer camp at Camp24
4444 Wannaklot; and25
4545 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia publishes an award-winning newsletter for its clients26
4646 and their families to educate them on advances in treatment; produces Protocols for the27
4747 Treatment of Hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease for physicians and other health care28
4848 providers; offers financial support for hemophilia treatment centers throughout Georgia to29
4949 ensure that they are fully staffed and equipped; and invests in critical research for inherited30
5050 bleeding disorders and their associated complications; and31
5151 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia partners with many entities, including St. Jude32
5252 Children's Research Hospital and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory33

5555 University, for research to find a cure for hemophilia and to help end the bleeding disorders

5757 affecting citizens; and 35
5858 WHEREAS, Hemophilia of Georgia is a trusted resource to many health care providers and36
5959 insurers providing training on bleeding disorders, including appropriate care and treatment.37
6060 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that38
6161 the members of this body extend a warm greeting to Hemophilia of Georgia, its staff and39
6262 volunteers, and the persons that the organization serves and convey to them this legislative40
6363 body's heartiest commendation for their work on behalf of those individuals with hemophilia41
6464 and other inherited bleeding disorders in this state, throughout our nation, and around the42
6565 world.43
6666 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized44
6767 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to45
6868 Hemophilia of Georgia.46
