1616 Commending the Atlanta Football Host Committee for hosting the 2025 College Football

1919 WHEREAS, in August 2022, Atlanta, Georgia, was selected as the host of the 2025 College3
2020 Football Playoff National Championship; and4
2121 WHEREAS, Atlanta, Georgia, previously hosted the College Football Playoff National5
2222 Championship in 2018 and was selected as the first city to serve as a repeat host of the6
2323 College Football Playoff National Championship; and7
2424 WHEREAS, in 2018, the Atlanta Football Host Committee welcomed over 125,000 guests8
2525 to the Championship Campus in downtown Atlanta, earned the highest TV rating on record9
2626 for a college football game on ESPN, and hosted the first presidential visit to a college10
2727 football championship since 1980; and11
2828 WHEREAS, The Atlanta Sports Council spearheaded the bid to host the 2025 College12
2929 Football Playoff National Championship alongside its partners in the community, including13
3030 the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, Arthur M. Blank Sports and Entertainment, the14

3333 City of Atlanta, Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the

3535 State of Georgia; and16
3636 WHEREAS, the Georgia General Assembly and Governor Brian Kemp have supported17
3737 Georgia's ability to host major sporting events with the extension of the sales tax exemption18
3838 on tickets for major sporting events and a $4.75 million appropriation to facilitate public19
3939 safety and infrastructure costs for the College Football Playoff National Championship; and 20
4040 WHEREAS, the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship will be hosted at the21
4141 world-class Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the host of the 2018 College Football Playoff 22
4242 Championship, the first LEED platinum-certified stadium to host a College Football Playoff23
4343 National Championship, and the future host of multiple major sporting events, including the24
4444 FIFA World Cup 2026 and Super Bowl 62; and25
4545 WHEREAS, over 600 volunteers from across the State of Georgia have stepped forward to26
4646 serve as the first impression for visitors and express our first-class hospitality for guests all27
4747 across the championship campus; and 28
4848 WHEREAS, the Atlanta Football Host Committee and College Football Playoff Foundation29
4949 have heavily invested in Georgia's communities with the creation of the Georgia Teachers30
5050 Initiative, which has engaged with over 40,000 teachers across the whole state and funded31
5151 teacher projects in all 159 counties; and32
5252 WHEREAS, the economic impact of hosting the College Football Playoff National33
5353 Championship to the State of Georgia will be $75 million for Georgia's restaurants, hotels,34
5454 vendors, and additional hospitality businesses.35

5757 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that

5959 the members of this body commend the Atlanta Football Host Committee for serving as the37
6060 first repeat host city of the College Football Playoff National Championship and welcome38
6161 the national championship game back to Atlanta, Georgia.39
6262 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized40
6363 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the41
6464 Atlanta Football Host Committee and other parties.42
