| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, dedicated individuals in Georgia breed dogs to develop unique, predictable3 |

| 15 | 15 | | characteristics that enable dogs to excel in a wide range of beneficial areas; and4 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, purebred dogs are living legacies of the cultures that created them, and5 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | historically these dogs worked alongside their people and provided them companionship; and6 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, the service of these breeds continues today as they work alongside humans and7 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | provide inestimable companionship as guide dogs, service dogs, conservation dogs, livestock8 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | guardians, search and rescue dogs, earth dogs, police dogs, canine soldiers serving by the9 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | sides of our military men and women, and guardians of family, home, and hearth; and10 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, purebred dogs have been of enormous help to medical science, serving as11 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | models for many heritable human diseases, playing a role in humanity's understanding of the12 |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | human and canine genomes, and benefitting pharmaceutical research and development; and13 |

| 30 | 30 | | protectors, hunters, and bird dogs, and they are always the heartbeat of a companion near and16 |

| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, all dogs should be valued regardless of their ancestry, but the purpose-bred dog18 |

| 33 | 33 | | and the predictability of its breed should be cherished and preserved; and19 |

| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, each breed is incredibly etched in the history of the culture that created it, just20 |

| 35 | 35 | | as surely as that culture's music, art, and language, making it abundantly fitting that we21 |

| 36 | 36 | | recognize purebred dogs.22 |

| 37 | 37 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23 |

| 39 | 39 | | recognize May 1, 2025, as Purebred Dog Day at the state capitol.25 |
