1616 Congratulating and commending Aaliyah Phillips, Miss Cobb County 2025; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, Aaliyah Phillips was crowned Miss Cobb County 2025 at the 66th annual Miss3
2020 Cobb County Scholarship Competition in Marietta, Georgia, a title that recognizes her4
2121 dedication to education, leadership, and community service; and5
2222 WHEREAS, she will go on to compete for the title of Miss Georgia in June 2025, the winner6
2323 of which will represent the State of Georgia in the Miss America Competition; and7
2424 WHEREAS, the Miss Cobb County Scholarship Board additionally awarded her with a8
2525 $10,000 cash scholarship to support her pursuit of a Doctor of Education in education policy9
2626 as well as her ultimate goal of serving as the Secretary of the United States Department of10
2727 Education; and11
2828 WHEREAS, a 2024 magna cum laude graduate of Columbus State University, she earned12
2929 a Bachelor of Science in elementary education while maintaining consistent placement on13
3030 the President's List and serving as a Student Government Association senator; and14

3333 WHEREAS, she has further honed her leadership skills by serving as a communications

3535 intern for United States Senator Jon Ossoff, training at the Ron Clark Academy, and16
3636 attending the Disney Dreamers Academy; and17
3737 WHEREAS, Aaliyah is currently in her first year as a kindergarten teacher and has dedicated18
3838 over 500 hours to community service, actively participating in local events as a vocalist,19
3939 speaker, advocate, and volunteer; and20
4040 WHEREAS, she further serves as the founder of SPREAD: Spreading Literacy Through21
4141 Reading, an initiative focused on promoting literacy equality, through which she has22
4242 partnered with organizations such as Girls, Inc.; United Way of Greater Atlanta; the Literacy23
4343 Alliance; and Cobb Collaborative, Educating, Engaging and Empowering; and24
4444 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this distinguished young woman be25
4545 appropriately honored.26
4646 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27
4747 the members of this body congratulate Aaliyah Phillips for winning the title of Miss Cobb28
4848 County 2025, commend her for her outstanding service on behalf of the students of this state,29
4949 and extend best wishes for success in future competition.30
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized31
5151 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to32
5252 Aaliyah Phillips.33
