| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 |

| 10 | 10 | | with the passing of Guy Jehue Rutland Jr. on January 24, 2025; and3 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Guy Jehue Rutland Jr. was born on January 23, 1935, in Polk County, Georgia,4 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | a beloved son of Guy Jehue Rutland Sr. and Ida Davis Rutland; and5 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, during his distinguished career in education, he dedicated over 33 years to6 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | teaching and coaching in the Polk School District, earning recognition as Coach of the Year7 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in Wrestling from the Georgia Athletic Association, and served for 12 years as part of the8 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Polk School District Board of Education; and9 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, he further served his community as owner and operator of both Rutland Farm,10 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a Georgia Centennial Farm he inherited from his parents, and Christmas Tree City, which has11 |

| 19 | 19 | | served the community for 47 years; and12 |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Guy Jehue Rutland Jr. was an active and13 |

| 21 | 21 | | devoted member of Victory Baptist Church; and14 |

| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern18 |

| 29 | 29 | | for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his19 |

| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation21 |

| 32 | 32 | | for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he22 |

| 33 | 33 | | made this world a better place in which to live; and23 |

| 34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Guy Jehue Rutland Jr. will long be24 |

| 35 | 35 | | remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who25 |

| 37 | 37 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that27 |

| 39 | 39 | | express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.29 |
