A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 13, 2025, as Donor Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, nearly 3,100 Georgians provided the gift of renewed or improved life through2
organ, eye, and tissue donation during 2024, including 176 who chose to become living3
kidney donors, saving and improving the lives of tens of thousands through organ, eye, and4
tissue transplantation; and5
WHEREAS, these generous gifts were facilitated by organ, tissue, and eye recovery and6
transplant organizations in Georgia that work together to educate the public about the7
importance of organ, tissue, and eye donation as Donate Life Georgia; and8
WHEREAS, LifeLink of Georgia partners with hospitals to support and guide families as9
they establish their loved one's legacy through organ and tissue donation as well as honors10
each donor by saving and improving the lives of as many patients as possible; and11
WHEREAS, the Georgia Transplant Foundation bridges the gap between hope and12
opportunity by providing financial, educational, emotional, and community support programs13
and services that enrich the lives of those affected by organ transplantation in the State of14
Georgia; and15

WHEREAS, LifeLink of Georgia and member organizations of Donate Life Georgia

encourage individuals to register their decision to save lives by joining the Donate Life17
Georgia organ, eye, and tissue donor registry while obtaining a driver's license, online at18
www.DonateLifeGeorgia.org, or when obtaining a hunting or fishing license through the19
Department of Natural Resources; and20
WHEREAS,  LifeLink of Georgia and member organizations of Donate Life Georgia are21
working tirelessly to ensure that the nearly 2,900 Georgians currently awaiting an organ22
transplant receive a second chance at life; and23
WHEREAS, by celebrating Donor Day at the state capitol and sharing the Donate Life24
message, we can save and heal more lives and honor donors' legacies of generosity and25
compassion; and26
WHEREAS, we recognize those who have given the gift of life, both after death and through27
living donation; those who have received the gift of life through organ, eye, and tissue28
donation; those who are currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant; and those who died29
waiting because an organ was not gifted in time.30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that31
the members of this body commend the selfless individuals and their families who make32
donation possible as well as the member organizations of Donate Life Georgia for their33
tireless dedication to educating Georgians about and saving lives through organ, eye, and34
tissue donation and recognize February 13, 2025, as Donor Day at the state capitol.35

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized

and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to37
LifeLink of Georgia.38
