77 Recognizing and commending the National Association of Black Women in Construction;

1010 WHEREAS, the National Association of Black Women in Construction (NABWIC) was3
1111 founded in 1991 as a national organization dedicated to increasing awareness, representation,4
1212 and opportunities for Black women in the construction industry; and5
1313 WHEREAS, the NABWIC Atlanta Chapter was officially established in 2020 to advance the6
1414 national mission in Georgia, providing professional development, mentorship, and advocacy7
1515 for Black women in construction; and8
1616 WHEREAS, NABWIC actively engages in community service projects to uplift and improve9
1717 the lives of individuals in underserved communities, including its 2023 partnership with10
1818 Seaborn Elementary School to create a Zen Wellness Space for teachers, its 202411
1919 collaboration with HouseProud Atlanta to provide home repair assistance to seniors and12
2020 veteran homeowners in Atlanta, and its 2024 participation in the African American Male13
2121 Wellness Agency Initiative to support health screenings and awareness campaigns for Black14
2222 men; and15

2525 WHEREAS, the NABWIC Atlanta Chapter is dedicated to legislative advocacy, ensuring

2727 that Black women in construction receive equitable opportunities, fair wages, and17
2828 representation in government contracting and infrastructure projects; and18
2929 WHEREAS, NABWIC is participating in the Legislative Brunch on February 26, 2025, at19
3030 the Georgia Legislative Building, featuring key speakers Representative Angela Moore and20
3131 Senator Emanuel Jones, to advance policy discussions for increased access to government21
3232 contracts for Black women-owned construction firms, expanded workforce development and22
3333 training programs at HBCUs and trade schools, financial support for women-owned23
3434 businesses including grant opportunities and low-interest loans, supplier diversity and24
3535 procurement opportunities to ensure equitable access to large-scale projects, and safe and25
3636 inclusive work environments by eliminating discrimination and harassment in construction;26
3737 and27
3838 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding organization be28
3939 appropriately honored.29
4040 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that30
4141 the members of this body recognize and commend the National Association of Black Women31
4242 in Construction for its many remarkable contributions on behalf of the citizens of this state32
4343 as well as extend best wishes for continued success.33
4444 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized34
4545 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the35
4646 National Association of Black Women in Construction.36
