1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Recognizing and commending the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation; and for other purposes.

1818 WHEREAS, on February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery, a vibrant and promising young man,2
1919 tragically lost his life in an incident that reverberated across Georgia and the nation, shedding3
2020 light on the urgent need for racial justice and equality; and4
2121 WHEREAS, in the wake of this heartbreaking loss, Ahmaud's mother, Ms. Wanda5
2222 Cooper-Jones, demonstrated extraordinary strength and resilience by founding the Ahmaud6
2323 Arbery Foundation, transforming her personal grief into a movement for meaningful change;7
2424 and8
2525 WHEREAS, the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation is dedicated to promoting racial justice,9
2626 fostering youth empowerment, and creating stronger, safer communities through advocacy,10
2727 education, and outreach programs; and11
2828 WHEREAS, the foundation's work includes efforts to bridge divides, support marginalized12
2929 communities, and inspire the next generation to embrace inclusion, equity, and fairness; and13

3232 WHEREAS, through the foundation, the legacy of Ahmaud Arbery serves as a call to action

3434 for all Georgians to work toward a society where every individual can live with dignity,15
3535 safety, and the freedom to pursue their dreams; and16
3636 WHEREAS, the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation has become a symbol of hope and progress,17
3737 reminding us that even in the face of adversity, compassion and determination can drive18
3838 meaningful societal change.19
3939 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that20
4040 the members of this body recognize and commend the Ahmaud Arbery Foundation for its21
4141 vital work in promoting racial justice and youth empowerment as well as its unwavering22
4242 commitment to building a better and more equitable Georgia.23
4343 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of this body extend their deepest gratitude24
4444 to Ms. Wanda Cooper-Jones for her courage and leadership as well as honor the enduring25
4545 legacy of Ahmaud Arbery, whose story continues to inspire change across the state and26
4646 beyond.27
4747 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28
4848 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29
4949 Ahmaud Arbery Foundation.30
