1111 Congratulating and commending Cobb Collaborative, recipient of the Georgia Reads

1313 Community Award, for its dedication to literacy advancement; and for other purposes.2
1414 WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth3
1515 through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critical role in addressing low4
1616 literacy rates; and5
1717 WHEREAS, the Georgia Reads Community Award was established to recognize6
1818 communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,7
1919 sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and measurable results in literacy8
2020 improvement; and9
2121 WHEREAS, Cobb Collaborative serves as the local point of contact for the Get Georgia10
2222 Reading Campaign, engaging a cross-sector group of child and family-facing advocates to11
2323 support community-wide literacy strategies; and12
2424 WHEREAS, Cobb Collaborative has fostered meaningful partnerships with Cobb County13
2525 Public Library, Cobb Douglas Public Health, First Christian Church of Mableton, Marietta14
2626 City Schools, faith communities, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, other15

2929 nonprofit organizations, and Smyrna Library to expand access to literacy resources and

3232 WHEREAS, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in reading proficiency,18
3333 creating greater opportunities for academic success and career development; and19
3434 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of Cobb Collaborative and its partners serve as20
3535 an inspiration to others, demonstrating the power of community-driven solutions to address21
3636 literacy challenges.22
3737 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
3838 the members of this body congratulate and commend the Georgia Reads Community Award24
3939 recipients, particularly Cobb Collaborative, for their exemplary service and unwavering25
4040 commitment to improving literacy in their communities.26
4141 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized27
4242 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Cobb28
4343 Collaborative.29
