88 A RESOLUTION
99 Congratulating and commending the Charlton County Board of Education, recipient of the

1111 Georgia Reads Community Award, for its dedication to literacy advancement; and for other2
1212 purposes.3
1313 WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth4
1414 through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critical role in addressing low5
1515 literacy rates; and6
1616 WHEREAS, the Georgia Reads Community Award was established to recognize7
1717 communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,8
1818 sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and measurable results in literacy9
1919 improvement; and10
2020 WHEREAS, the Charlton County Board of Education is a recipient of the Georgia Reads11
2121 Community Award for its efforts in creating a common "literacy-based solution-focused12
2222 mindset" to impact student achievement; and13
2323 WHEREAS, its mission has been and will continue to be to share the importance of "Loving14
2424 Literacy for Life" with Charlton families and their children; and15

2727 WHEREAS, this work includes partnerships between the Charlton County School District,

2929 L4GA program manager Julie Morrill, Ferst Readers of Charlton County, and more than 4017
3030 local businesses and organizations; and18
3131 WHEREAS, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in reading proficiency,19
3232 ensuring greater opportunities for success in education and career development; and20
3333 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of the Charlton County Board of Education and21
3434 its partners serve as an inspiration to others, demonstrating the power of community-driven22
3535 solutions to address literacy challenges.23
3636 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that24
3737 the members of this body congratulate and commend the Georgia Reads Community Award25
3838 recipients, particularly the Charlton County Board of Education, for their exemplary service26
3939 and unwavering commitment to improving literacy in their communities.27
4040 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28
4141 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the29
4242 Charlton County Board of Education.30
