14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Travis Strickland is a fourth-generation farmer whose land is situated between3 |

15 | 15 | | Winston and Whitesburg, where his family has resided since before the Civil War; and4 |

16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, originally a cotton farm through World War I under Moes Strickland, the farm5 |
---|
17 | 17 | | transitioned to cattle upon Moes' return from the war, and it has since been operated by6 |
---|
18 | 18 | | successive generations of the family, including Ervin Strickland, a World War II veteran, and7 |
---|
19 | 19 | | Donald Strickland, a Vietnam War veteran; and8 |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Travis Strickland began his farming journey as a child by assisting with the9 |
---|
21 | 21 | | family food plot and feeding cattle, and after the passing of his father in 2015, he assumed10 |
---|
22 | 22 | | full responsibility of the farm, where he now breeds Angus cattle; and11 |

23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, he has since continued its operations with the support of his wife, Mary, and12 |

24 | 24 | | their two young children, Kyler and Tate; and13 |

30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high16 |

31 | 31 | | ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom17 |

32 | 32 | | which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved18 |

33 | 33 | | through overcoming the many challenges of life; and19 |

34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for20 |
