16	16	Recognizing and commending Atlanta City Councilman Byron D. Amos; and for other

18	18	purposes.2
19	19	WHEREAS, Councilman Byron D. Amos has long been recognized by the citizens of this3
20	20	state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to4
21	21	the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5
22	22	WHEREAS, Councilman Amos, elected in 2022, is an Atlanta native and lifelong resident6
23	23	of Vine City; and7
24	24	WHEREAS, Councilman Amos is a dedicated entrepreneur, community organizer, and8
25	25	public education advocate with more than 25 years of experience in building stronger9
26	26	communities; and 10
27	27	WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,11
28	28	talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced12
29	29	dramatically by his superlative service as the CEO of Capacity Builders, Inc., a corporation13
30	30	that focuses on overseeing community empowerment and development programs that14
31	31	encourage citizens to engage with their local government; and15

34	34	WHEREAS, Councilman Amos served as the District Two Representative on the Atlanta
35	35	16
36	36	Board of Education for seven years, where he led efforts to create and adopt the first Atlanta17
37	37	Public School Equity Policy, aimed at bridging achievement gaps between white and Black18
38	38	students in Atlanta Public Schools and addressing socioeconomic factors that impact student19
39	39	learning; and20
40	40	WHEREAS, due to his unwavering commitment to public service and stewardship,21
41	41	Councilman Amos has received many prestigious honors and awards, including being22
42	42	recognized as a WATL 36 Unsung Hero and an Outstanding Atlantan; and23
43	43	WHEREAS, Councilman Amos's significant organizational and leadership talents,24
44	44	remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the25
45	45	citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and26
46	46	associates; and27
47	47	WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for28
48	48	integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and29
49	49	WHEREAS, Councilman Amos has served with honor and distinction with the Atlanta City30
50	50	Council, and his vision and unyielding commitment have set the standard for public service;31

52	52	WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this33
53	53	remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.34
54	54	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that35
55	55	the members of this body recognize and commend Councilman Byron D. Amos for his36

58	58	efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend

60	60	the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.38
61	61	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized39
62	62	and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to40
63	63	Councilman Byron D. Amos.41
