1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Recognizing and commending Atlanta City Councilman Byron D. Amos; and for other

1818 purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, Councilman Byron D. Amos has long been recognized by the citizens of this3
2020 state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to4
2121 the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5
2222 WHEREAS, Councilman Amos, elected in 2022, is an Atlanta native and lifelong resident6
2323 of Vine City; and7
2424 WHEREAS, Councilman Amos is a dedicated entrepreneur, community organizer, and8
2525 public education advocate with more than 25 years of experience in building stronger9
2626 communities; and 10
2727 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,11
2828 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced12
2929 dramatically by his superlative service as the CEO of Capacity Builders, Inc., a corporation13
3030 that focuses on overseeing community empowerment and development programs that14
3131 encourage citizens to engage with their local government; and15

3434 WHEREAS, Councilman Amos served as the District Two Representative on the Atlanta

3636 Board of Education for seven years, where he led efforts to create and adopt the first Atlanta17
3737 Public School Equity Policy, aimed at bridging achievement gaps between white and Black18
3838 students in Atlanta Public Schools and addressing socioeconomic factors that impact student19
3939 learning; and20
4040 WHEREAS, due to his unwavering commitment to public service and stewardship,21
4141 Councilman Amos has received many prestigious honors and awards, including being22
4242 recognized as a WATL 36 Unsung Hero and an Outstanding Atlantan; and23
4343 WHEREAS, Councilman Amos's significant organizational and leadership talents,24
4444 remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the25
4545 citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and26
4646 associates; and27
4747 WHEREAS, he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for28
4848 integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and29
4949 WHEREAS, Councilman Amos has served with honor and distinction with the Atlanta City30
5050 Council, and his vision and unyielding commitment have set the standard for public service;31

5252 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this33
5353 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.34
5454 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that35
5555 the members of this body recognize and commend Councilman Byron D. Amos for his36

5858 efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend

6060 the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.38
6161 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized39
6262 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to40
6363 Councilman Byron D. Amos.41
