1111 Recognizing and commending the Metro Atlanta Coalition for Healthy Neighborhoods,

1313 Wholesome Wave Georgia, and Retaaza; and for other purposes.2
1414 WHEREAS, the Metro Atlanta Coalition for Healthy Neighborhoods (MACHN) is a3
1515 dedicated partnership of organizations, including the Lucky Shoals Community Association,4
1616 working to address disparities in healthcare access, food security, and overall well-being5
1717 across metro Atlanta; and6
1818 WHEREAS, Wholesome Wave Georgia is dedicated to increasing access to fresh, locally7
1919 grown food for the 1.4 million food-insecure Georgians who rely on federal nutrition8
2020 assistance, thereby addressing the direct correlation between food insecurity, poverty, and9
2121 diet-related health issues such as obesity and chronic illness; and10
2222 WHEREAS, through innovative programs and partnerships with local farmers, Wholesome11
2323 Wave Georgia empowers families by making healthy food choices more affordable and12
2424 accessible; and13
2525 WHEREAS, Retaaza is a social enterprise that reduces food insecurity by connecting local14
2626 farmers directly with consumers, creating sustainable food pipelines that provide fresh,15

2929 healthy produce to individuals and families in need while supporting economic stability in

3131 rural communities and preventing food waste; and17
3232 WHEREAS, the American Heart Association (AHA), the nation's oldest and largest18
3333 voluntary organization dedicated to combating heart disease and stroke, has invested over19
3434 $5 billion in research, making it the largest not-for-profit funding source for cardiovascular20
3535 and cerebrovascular disease research aside from the federal government; and21
3636 WHEREAS, the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority (FDHA) was established to ensure22
3737 equitable access to quality healthcare for all residents of Fulton and DeKalb counties23
3838 regardless of socioeconomic status by working collaboratively with and community partners24
3939 to close gaps in healthcare services and promote health equity; and25
4040 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that these exemplary organizations be26
4141 appropriately honored during this special time.27
4242 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28
4343 the members of this body recognize and commend the Metro Atlanta Coalition for Healthy29
4444 Neighborhoods, Wholesome Wave Georgia, and Retaaza for their contributions on behalf30
4545 of those in need as well as extend best wishes for continued success.31
4646 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized32
4747 and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the33
4848 Metro Atlanta Coalition for Healthy Neighborhoods, Wholesome Wave Georgia, and34
4949 Retaaza.35
