A RESOLUTION
Commending AHIMSA-End Gun Violence; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, AHIMSA-End Gun Violence was founded on April 18, 2023, by Dr. Amod2
Sureka, Dr. Shailendra Palvia, and Ms. Vaisheshi Jalajam; and3
WHEREAS, "Ahimsa," the organization's namesake, is the ancient Indian principle of4
nonviolence and is a key virtue for a number of Indian religions; and5
WHEREAS, based on the principle of Ahimsa, this remarkable organization advocates for6
gun violence prevention through legislative action and student mentorship; and7
WHEREAS, AHIMSA-End Gun Violence holds five-day, 40-hour classes for students8
interested in gun violence prevention advocacy; and9
WHEREAS, AHIMSA-End Gun Violence is preparing future generations to be well10
informed, effective advocates; and11

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this

extraordinary organization be appropriately recognized.13
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that14
the members of this body commend AHIMSA-End Gun Violence for their student15
mentorship and advocacy as well as extend best wishes for its future success. 16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized17
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to18
AHIMSA-End Gun Violence. 19
