Herring; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, Reverend John H. Herring has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the2 Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,3 psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and4 WHEREAS, On April 25, 2010, Reverend Herring was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus5 Christ and in March 2011, was ordained as a Preacher of the Gospel; and 6 WHEREAS, in 2012, upon the retirement of his father, Pastor Wallace B. Herring, Sr.,7 Reverend John Herring became the 4th and youngest pastor of Glorious Hope Baptist Church8 in Macon, Georgia; and9 WHEREAS, his vision and direction have helped Glorious Hope Baptist Church grow in size10 and influence, uplifting the community like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual11 leader and place for fellowship; and12 WHEREAS, with the heart for children and youth, Reverend Herring has been instrumental13 in the success of the widely popular Men About Change program, an after-school and14 H. R. 624 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0330 summer program for boys and girls that focuses on educational and entrepreneurial 15 initiatives, character development, and community service; and16 WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the17 troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or18 humanitarian, Reverend Herring has shown the energy, devotion, and commitment truly19 reflective of divine guidance; and20 WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Herring is a source of21 strength and direction for persons in all walks of life; and22 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the outstanding accomplishments23 of the dynamic Christian ministry of this devout and pious man.24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that25 the members of this body recognize and commend Reverend John H. Herring and extend best26 wishes for many more years of successful fellowship and leadership.27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized28 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to29 Reverend John H.
