1616 Recognizing and commending Dr. Charis Chambers; and for other purposes.

1818 WHEREAS, Dr. Charis Chambers is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and2
1919 specialty-certified pediatric and adolescent gynecologist whose career reflects excellence in3
2020 medical practice, education, and public advocacy; and4
2121 WHEREAS, Dr. Chambers graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College in 2010 with5
2222 a degree in biology, earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at6
2323 Birmingham, and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Greenville7
2424 Memorial Hospital, where she was inducted into the prestigious medical honor society Alpha8
2525 Omega Alpha; and9
2626 WHEREAS, in 2019, she launched her educational platform The Period Doctor to address10
2727 the lack of accessible, medically accurate reproductive health information and minority11
2828 physician representation on social media; and12
2929 WHEREAS, her work as The Period Doctor has earned national attention through television,13
3030 digital media, and print publications, and her platform now reaches millions of viewers14
3131 monthly as well as boasts a following of over 270,000 individuals; and15

3434 WHEREAS, in 2020, she pursued fellowship training in pediatric and adolescent gynecology

3636 at Baylor College of Medicine, completing her training and beginning practice as a17
3737 physician; and18
3838 WHEREAS, in September 2022, she transitioned from hospital-employed medicine to19
3939 relocate to Atlanta, Georgia, with plans to open her own medical practice as well as to20
4040 continue her education and advocacy in reproductive health; and21
4141 WHEREAS, Dr. Chambers is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable22
4242 reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and23
4343 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24
4444 remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.25
4545 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
4646 the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Charis Chambers for her many27
4747 outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of this state as well as extend the most28
4848 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.29
4949 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
5050 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.31
