1616 Recognizing and commending McKenna Farms Therapy Services; and for other purposes.

1818 WHEREAS, McKenna Farms Therapy Services is a nonprofit organization that provides2
1919 therapy services to boys and girls ages 0 to 21 with special needs from Northwest Georgia3
2020 and metro Atlanta; and4
2121 WHEREAS, the organization serves children with a variety of diagnoses including, but not5
2222 limited to Autism, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Developmental Delay, genetic and6
2323 chromosomal disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain7
2424 Injury, Stroke, Scoliosis, fine motor delay, oral and motor feeding disorders, learning and8
2525 language disabilities, auditory processing, and coordination disorders; and9
2626 WHEREAS, McKenna Farms began in 2001 with 10 children, one physical therapist10
2727 assistant, 5 volunteers, and 2 horses; and 11
2828 WHEREAS, currently, the program has 25 therapists who serve over 500 children per week,12
2929 258 regular volunteers, 700 weekly therapy sessions, patients from 16 counties, and 1513

3333 WHEREAS, the Farm is situated on 30 acres in Paulding County and includes a

3535 newly-renovated therapy clinic and offices in a civil war-era farmhouse, 8 therapy cottages,16
3636 outdoor and indoor riding arenas, a sensory trail, wooded adventure trail, and a barn that17
3737 houses 15 horses and 2 mini horses; and18
3838 WHEREAS, McKenna Farms offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as19
3939 therapeutic riding provided in various settings including clinical, aquatic, and through the20
4040 utilization of equine movement in hippotherapy; and21
4141 WHEREAS, no other therapeutic center in the region offers such comprehensive services in22
4242 one location; and23
4343 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this organization,24
4444 as well as its staff and volunteers, is appropriately honored.25
4545 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
4646 the members of this body recognize and commend the selfless work of McKenna Farms27
4747 Therapy Services.28
4848 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
4949 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to30
5050 McKenna Farms Therapy Services.31
