18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, McKenna Farms Therapy Services is a nonprofit organization that provides2 |

19 | 19 | | therapy services to boys and girls ages 0 to 21 with special needs from Northwest Georgia3 |

20 | 20 | | and metro Atlanta; and4 |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, the organization serves children with a variety of diagnoses including, but not5 |
---|
22 | 22 | | limited to Autism, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Developmental Delay, genetic and6 |
---|
23 | 23 | | chromosomal disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain7 |
---|
24 | 24 | | Injury, Stroke, Scoliosis, fine motor delay, oral and motor feeding disorders, learning and8 |
---|
25 | 25 | | language disabilities, auditory processing, and coordination disorders; and9 |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, McKenna Farms began in 2001 with 10 children, one physical therapist10 |
---|
27 | 27 | | assistant, 5 volunteers, and 2 horses; and 11 |

28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, currently, the program has 25 therapists who serve over 500 children per week,12 |
---|
29 | 29 | | 258 regular volunteers, 700 weekly therapy sessions, patients from 16 counties, and 1513 |

36 | 36 | | outdoor and indoor riding arenas, a sensory trail, wooded adventure trail, and a barn that17 |

38 | 38 | | WHEREAS, McKenna Farms offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as19 |
---|
39 | 39 | | therapeutic riding provided in various settings including clinical, aquatic, and through the20 |

40 | 40 | | utilization of equine movement in hippotherapy; and21 |
---|
41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, no other therapeutic center in the region offers such comprehensive services in22 |

42 | 42 | | one location; and23 |
---|
43 | 43 | | WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this organization,24 |

44 | 44 | | as well as its staff and volunteers, is appropriately honored.25 |

45 | 45 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26 |
