1515 A RESOLUTION
1616 Recognizing and commending David Curtis Bridges, PhD, upon his induction into the

1818 Georgia Agriculture Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.2
1919 WHEREAS, David Curtis Bridges, PhD, has long been recognized by the citizens of this3
2020 state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to4
2121 the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5
2222 WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,6
2323 talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced7
2424 dramatically by his legacy of agricultural education and rural advocacy; and8
2525 WHEREAS, from 2006 to 2022, David served as the 10th president of Abraham Baldwin9
2626 Agricultural College (ABAC), making him the longest serving college or university president10
2727 in Georgia; and11
2828 WHEREAS, he has worked tirelessly for many years on behalf of rural Georgia, and his12
2929 work with the Rural Caucus and the House Rural Development Council was instrumental in13
3030 creating the Center for Rural Prosperity and Innovation at ABAC; and14

3333 WHEREAS, as interim director of Georgia's Center for Rural Prosperity and Innovation,

3535 David advocates for rural communities; and16
3636 WHEREAS, his expertise in defending the safety and demand for Georgia peanuts earned17
3737 him recognition from the United States Department of Agriculture, the Georgia Department18
3838 of Agriculture, and the Georgia Peanut Commission, which awarded him a Distinguished19
3939 Service Award; and 20
4040 WHEREAS, his pioneering work on weed control in tobacco led to the registration of two21
4141 novel herbicides for use in Georgia tobacco fields; and 22
4242 WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and23
4343 diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have24
4444 earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and25
4545 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the indelible agricultural contributions26
4646 of this Georgian are appropriately honored.27
4747 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that28
4848 the members of this body recognize and commend David Curtis Bridges, PhD, for his29
4949 efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia;30
5050 congratulate him upon the being inducted to the Georgia Agriculture Hall of Fame; and31
5151 extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.32
5252 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized33
5353 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to David34
