A RESOLUTION
Recognizing February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, arts and culture embody the accumulated wisdom, intellect, and imagination of2
humankind; and3
WHEREAS, Georgians recognize the arts and culture industry as a vital pillar of society and4
a source of pride in their neighborhoods and communities; and5
WHEREAS, through organizational spending and the resulting economic impact, the arts and6
culture industry generated $1.3 billion in 2022, supporting 19,734 jobs across Georgia; and7
WHEREAS, an overwhelming number of visitors to Georgia cite attending performances,8
events, exhibits, venues, and arts and culture-related facilities as their primary reason for9
visiting; and10
WHEREAS, arts and culture play a unique role in the lives of families and communities11
throughout Georgia, serving as a catalyst for economic impact, stimulating business12
development, spurring urban renewal, attracting tourists and residents to community13
activities, and improving the overall quality of life in Georgia communities; and14

WHEREAS, towns, cities, and counties, through their local and state arts agencies and
15
councils representing thousands of arts and cultural organizations, celebrate the value and16
importance of arts and culture in the lives of Georgians and the health of thriving17
communities during Georgia Arts Day.18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19
the members of this body recognize February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia and20
encourage communities throughout the state to celebrate and promote the arts and culture.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized22
and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the23
public and the press.24
