1616 Honoring the life and memory of Janel Jeras Green; and for other purposes.

1818 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
1919 with the passing of Janel Jeras Green on November 2, 2023; and3
2020 WHEREAS, Janel Jeras Green was born on October 28, 1968, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a4
2121 beloved daughter of Robert and Carol Jeras; and5
2222 WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to her late husband, Robert Sanders Green6
2323 Sr., and was blessed with a remarkable son, Sanders Jr.; and7
2424 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern8
2525 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to9
2626 her family and friends were admired by others; and10
2727 WHEREAS, as a strong advocate for marginalized communities, she created the Georgia11
2828 Alliance for Social Justice, helped organize the March For Our Lives event, marched with12
2929 Civil Rights icon and congressman John Lewis, and was involved with registering voters and13
3030 organizing elections; and14

3333 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation

3535 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,16
3636 she made this world a better place in which to live; and17
3737 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Janel will long be remembered for her18
3838 love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great19
3939 fortune of knowing her.20
4040 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21
4141 the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Janel Jeras Green and22
4242 express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.23
4343 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized24
4444 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the25
4545 family of Janel Jeras Green.26
