87 To amend Code Section 20-2-2096.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to

109 definitions relative to the "Completion Special Schools Act," so as to lower the age of2
1110 eligibility from 18 to 16 for certain students to be enrolled in a completion special school;3
1211 to revise definitions; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other4
1312 purposes.5
1413 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:6
1514 SECTION 1.7
1615 Code Section 20-2-2096.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to definitions8
1716 relative to the "Completion Special Schools Act," is amended by revising paragraphs (5)9
1817 and (6) as follows:10
1918 "(5) 'Dropout' means an individual 16 years of age or older
2019 who previously dropped out11
2120 of school according to the uniform definition of 'dropout' provided for in subsection (f)12
2221 of Code Section 20-14-33.13
2322 (6) 'Enrollment eligible student' means:14
2423 (A) An individual 18 16 years of age or older who is eligible for enrollment in15
2524 appropriate education programs as provided in subsection (a) of Code16

2827 Section 20-2-150, who meets the definition of dropout provided in paragraph (5) of this

3029 Code section, and who is not currently enrolled in a public school in this state; or18
3130 (B) An individual who is attending a United States Department of Defense Youth19
3231 Challenge Academy or who is in the custody of a correctional facility, detention20
3332 facility, jail, prison, or other lawful place of confinement for the period of such21
3433 attendance or custody."22
3534 SECTION 2.23
3635 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.24
