66 Celebrating the achievements and capabilities of young Georgians and recognizing March

88 18, 2025, as Georgia Children & Youth Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.2
99 WHEREAS, more than 2.5 million Georgians are under 18 years of age, and today's youth3
1010 are tomorrow's leaders; and4
1111 WHEREAS, the high school graduation rate has risen in recent years, from 67.4 percent in5
1212 2011 to 79.2 percent in 2016; and6
1313 WHEREAS, children are Georgia's most valuable asset, and Georgia's youth possess7
1414 enormous potential, which must be recognized and realized through constructive social8
1515 policies; and9
1616 WHEREAS, giving Georgia's youth the tools they need to succeed pays enormous dividends;10

1818 WHEREAS, the circumstances of a child's upbringing have a profound impact that reaches12
1919 well into adulthood; therefore, contributions are required from all of society; and13

2222 WHEREAS, the Georgia State Legislature is in the unique position to offer its appreciation

2424 and support of the children and youth of Georgia.15
2525 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body16
2626 celebrate the achievements and potential of the more than 2.5 million children and youth in17
2727 Georgia and, in doing so, recognize March 18, 2025, as Georgia Children & Youth Day at18
2828 the state capitol as well as encourage all citizens to recognize and celebrate the achievements19
2929 and potential of Georgia's youngest residents.20
3030 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed21
3131 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the22
3232 press.23
