66 Honoring the life and memory of Essie Mae Jackson; and for other purposes.

88 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
99 with the passing of Essie Mae Jackson on January 25, 2025, a beloved daughter of Charlie3
1010 and Lillian Robinson; and4
1111 WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Essie Mae Jackson was an active member5
1212 of her church who regularly provided meals for her fellow congregants; and6
1313 WHEREAS, she was an exemplary cook who made room at her table for everyone, whether7
1414 they were friends, family, or members of her community; and8
1515 WHEREAS, Essie Mae Jackson was the proud mother of six children, three boys and three9
1616 girls, whom she raised with love, patience, and wisdom; and10
1717 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern11
1818 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to12
1919 her family and friends were admired by others; and13

2222 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation

2424 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,15
2525 she made this world a better place in which to live; and16
2626 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Essie Mae Jackson will long be17
2727 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who18
2828 had the great fortune of knowing her.19
2929 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
3030 join in honoring the life and memory of Essie Mae Jackson and express their deepest and21
3131 most sincere regret at her passing.22
3232 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed23
3333 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Essie24
3434 Mae Jackson.25
