99 the world to American girls; and for other purposes.3
1010 WHEREAS, more than a century ago, native Savannahian Juliette Gordon Low started the4
1111 movement known as the Girl Scouts; beginning with the first gathering of 18 girls in5
1212 Savannah on March 12, 1912, Juliette broke the conventions of the time by reaching across6
1313 class, cultural, and ethnic boundaries to ensure that all girls, including those with disabilities,7
1414 had a place to grow and develop their talents and leadership skills; and8
1515 WHEREAS, the life mission of Juliette Gordon Low was to build girls of courage,9
1616 confidence, and character; and10
1717 WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience encourages girls to develop a strong sense11
1818 of self, connect to their communities both locally and globally, and feel empowered to make12
1919 a difference in the world; and13

2222 WHEREAS, Girl Scouts offers hands-on, girl-led, and girl-centered learning in STEM, the

2424 outdoors, and entrepreneurship and provides abundant opportunities to help girls develop15
2525 invaluable life skills; and16
2626 WHEREAS, the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn,17
2727 acknowledges each recipient's power and dedication to not only bettering herself but also to18
2828 making the world a better place for others; and19
2929 WHEREAS, more than 59 million American women are Girl Scout alumnae, and 2.6 million20
3030 girls and adult volunteers are active members; and21
3131 WHEREAS, today, there are 43,000 Girl Scout members in the State of Georgia in every22
3232 corner of the state; and23
3333 WHEREAS, the movement started by Juliette Gordon Low now reaches every corner of the24
3434 world with Girl Scouts living throughout the United States, its territories, and in more than25
3535 90 countries across the globe; and26
3636 WHEREAS, today, the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Greater Atlanta Councils serve27
3737 approximately 43,000 Girl Scout members in the State of Georgia.28
3838 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29
3939 recognize February 6, 2025, as Girl Scout Day at the state capitol and commend the Girl30
4040 Scouts as a national leader in developing girls of courage, confidence, and character.31

4343 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
