A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Gregory "Greg" Cecil Clifton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2
with the passing of Gregory "Greg" Cecil Clifton on January 3, 2025; and3
WHEREAS, Greg was born November 2, 1955, in Champaign, Illinois, the third son of Bob4
and Norma Clifton; and5
WHEREAS, he and his family moved to Georgia, settling in Fayette County in the late6
1950s; and7
WHEREAS, Greg graduated from Fayette County High School in 1973 and graduated from8
the University of Georgia in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in botany and a secondary9
science teaching certificate; and10
WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Greg was an active member of the religious11
community at the University of Georgia, a practice which he continued throughout his life;12

WHEREAS, he attended Bible study and prayer groups, was active in the Fayette Bible
14
Church and Congregation Ammudin Messianic Jewish Church, and served on the Board of15
Directors for Amazing Grace Evangelical Ministries Inc.; and16
WHEREAS, Greg spent his career in sales and was the first employee at Computer and17
Control Solutions Inc., selling industrial computer equipment to clients such as the United18
States Postal Service, NASA, the NFL, and the United States Army; and19
WHEREAS, Greg's fulfillment came from being a husband, father, and grandfather; his faith;20
and serving the community—he presided as Mayor of Fayetteville from January 2012 to21
December 2015; and22
WHEREAS, known for his sense of humor and positive spirit, Greg never met a stranger; he23
participated in many different social circles and claimed friends from all walks of life; and 24
WHEREAS, Greg exemplified the commandments "love the Lord your God with all your25
heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" and "love your neighbor as yourself."26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27
join in honoring the life and memory of Gregory "Greg" Cecil Clifton and express their28
deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed30
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of31
Gregory "Greg" Cecil Clifton.32
