| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Monroe County, Georgia, was founded in 1821 and named after James Monroe,3 |

| 9 | 9 | | a founding father and the fifth President of the United States; and4 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, with the City of Forsyth serving as its seat, Monroe County covers 395 square5 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | miles and has a population of over 27,000 people; and6 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Monroe County is home to outdoor tourist attractions such as the7 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Chattahoochee National Forest, High Falls State Park, and Lake Juliette; and8 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, the Monroe County Commission is dutifully and effectively performing its role9 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | as the elected legislative body of Monroe County by faithfully identifying and executing10 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | short-term and long-term goals, demonstrating exceptional leadership, and working hard to11 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | ensure that Monroe County continues to be a staple community in middle Georgia; and12 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, the Monroe County Chamber of Commerce is working to develop and apply13 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | new ideas, techniques, and technologies to generate and improve productivity levels, fiscal14 |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, established in 2001, Leadership Monroe hosts annual classes to cultivate strong17 |

| 26 | 26 | | community leaders by connecting a diverse group of individuals, equipping them with the18 |

| 27 | 27 | | skills and knowledge to address local challenges, and fostering relationships that drive19 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | progress in Monroe County; and20 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, the program begins with a retreat introducing participants to their team,21 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | followed by monthly meetings across Monroe County that explore critical community issues22 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and facilitate engagement with government leaders and chamber events; and23 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, each class undertakes a community project, with the 2025 class raising funds24 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | for Monroe County Special Olympics and volunteering at the event by providing lunch,25 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | t-shirts, and tents representing various schools; and26 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, the citizens of Monroe County are justly proud of their community, its past, and27 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | its numerous contributions to the state, and it is only fitting and proper to recognize this28 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | exemplary county.29 |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body30 |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | recognize February 6, 2025, as Monroe County Day at the state capitol and express sincere31 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | best wishes for continued success.32 |

| 41 | 41 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed33 |
