25 LC 112 2899 Senate Resolution 137 By: Senators James of the 28th, Rahman of the 5th, Kemp of the 38th, Esteves of the 35th, Harbison of the 15th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Frankie Mae Arnold; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Frankie Mae Arnold; and3 WHEREAS, a resident of Fairburn, Georgia, for more than 70 years, she served as the first4 African American elected to the Fairburn City Council, a position she held for 12 years; and5 WHEREAS, she earned numerous honors and accolades in recognition of her dedicated6 service, including being named Citizen of the Quarter by The Fairburn News in 1993, an7 Outstanding Community Service Award, and a Leadership Award for the Old Atlanta Task8 Force, a senior citizens volunteer group; and9 WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern10 for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to11 her family and friends were admired by others; and12 S. R. 137 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2899 WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation 13 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of her life,14 she made this world a better place in which to live; and15 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Frankie Mae Arnold will long be16 remembered for her love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who17 had the great fortune of knowing her.18 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body19 join in honoring the life and memory of Frankie Mae Arnold and express their deepest and20 most sincere regret at her passing.21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed22 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of23 Frankie Mae Arnold.24 S.
