66 Commending the contributions of the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association and its

88 commitment to delivering evidence-based practices to individuals with substance use2
99 disorders through recognized standards of education, training, and competencies as it3
1010 celebrates 45 years of service to Georgia; and for other purposes.4
1111 WHEREAS, the addiction professional workforce represents more than 1,500 counselors,5
1212 educators, and other addiction-focused health care professionals; and6
1313 WHEREAS, addiction professionals specialize in prevention, intervention, treatment,7
1414 recovery support, and education; and8
1515 WHEREAS, addiction professionals work across a wide variety of settings, including9
1616 outpatient care centers, mental health and substance use disorder facilities, general medicine10
1717 and surgical hospitals, psychiatric and substance use disorder hospitals, private practices,11
1818 clinics, prisons, probation agencies, juvenile detention facilities, halfway houses,12
1919 detoxification centers, and more; and13

2222 WHEREAS, addiction professionals address the full range of substance use disorders in

2424 communities across the treatment and recovery continuum, including responding to the15
2525 current opioid crisis; and16
2626 WHEREAS, the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association provides evidence-based care17
2727 for substance use disorders, training, and competencies for delivering quality care while18
2828 saving lives, restoring families, and strengthening communities across Georgia.19
2929 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20
3030 congratulate the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association for 45 years of service to the21
3131 people of Georgia and commend its leadership in service to all those across Georgia seeking22
3232 recovery from addiction.23
3333 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24
3434 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia25
3535 Addiction Counselors Association.26
