66 Commending Georgia's trauma professionals, the Georgia Trauma Commission, and the

99 at the state capitol; and for other purposes.3
1010 WHEREAS, trauma is the leading cause of death in the United States for those under the age4
1111 of 45 and the fourth leading cause of death for all ages; and5
1212 WHEREAS, physical trauma, including injuries from accidents, violence, and natural6
1313 disasters, affects millions of individuals each year, leading to significant physical, emotional,7
1414 and financial burdens; and8
1515 WHEREAS, the recognition and awareness of physical trauma are essential for improving9
1616 prevention, care, and recovery efforts, and both high-quality trauma care facilities and trained10
1717 medical personnel are crucial for providing immediate and effective treatment to trauma11
1818 victims; and12
1919 WHEREAS, prevention and safety measures such as road safety campaigns, workplace13
2020 safety regulations, and violence prevention programs play a vital role in reducing the14
2121 incidence of physical trauma; and15

2424 WHEREAS, rehabilitation services, including physical therapy and occupational therapy, are

2626 essential for the long-term recovery and well-being of trauma survivors; and17
2727 WHEREAS, public education and awareness campaigns are necessary to inform the18
2828 community about the causes and consequences of physical trauma and the available19
2929 resources for support and recovery; and20
3030 WHEREAS, legislative support is needed to ensure adequate funding for trauma centers,21
3131 research into trauma treatment, and policies that enhance public safety; and22
3232 WHEREAS, community organizations and volunteers play a significant role in supporting23
3333 trauma survivors and promoting safety and prevention efforts.24
3434 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body25
3535 commend Georgia's trauma professionals, the Georgia Trauma Commission, and the Georgia26
3636 Trauma Foundation as well as recognize January 28, 2025, as Trauma Awareness Day at the27
3737 state capitol to raise awareness about physical trauma, promote prevention and safety28
3838 measures, support trauma care and rehabilitation services, and honor the efforts of medical29
3939 professionals, community organizations, and volunteers in addressing physical trauma.30
4040 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31
4141 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the32
4242 press.33
