25 LC 112 2993 Senate Resolution 184 By: Senators Jones II of the 22nd, Wicks of the 34th, Kemp of the 38th, Sims of the 12th, Mallow of the 2nd and others A RESOLUTION Commending the men and women of the United States Armed Forces from the Greater 1 Augusta region; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, the men and women of the United States Armed Forces have dedicated their3 lives to the defense and protection of our nation, upholding the highest values of courage,4 sacrifice, and service; and5 WHEREAS, the Greater Augusta region is home to countless active-duty service members,6 veterans, reservists, and National Guard personnel who have honorably served and continue7 to serve in defense of our freedoms; and8 WHEREAS, Fort Eisenhower (formerly Fort Gordon) and other military installations in the9 region have played a critical role in national defense, providing strategic support, training,10 and resources to ensure the readiness of our Armed Forces; and11 WHEREAS, the families of our service members also bear the weight of sacrifice, providing12 unwavering support and resilience as their loved ones answer the call of duty; and13 S. R. 184 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2993 WHEREAS, the veterans of the Greater Augusta area have demonstrated extraordinary 14 bravery and dedication, transitioning from military service to continue contributing to the15 community through leadership, public service, and economic development; and16 WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that we, as a community, express our profound gratitude17 and appreciation for the selfless service, dedication, and valor exhibited by these18 extraordinary men and women.19 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body20 commend the men and women of the United States Armed Forces from the Greater Augusta21 region for their exemplary contributions to the security, prosperity, and well-being of our22 great nation.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed24 to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the25 press.26 S.
