25 LC 112 2943 Senate Resolution 187 By: Senators Bearden of the 30th and Anavitarte of the 31st A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Troy Cosby upon his retirement; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, Troy Cosby has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of2 his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state, as evidenced3 dramatically by his decades of superlative fire service; and4 WHEREAS, he began his fire service career as a volunteer at Hiram Station 2 in September5 1983 at just 17 years old, and upon turning 18, he enrolled in one of the county's first6 state-certified fire training classes; and 7 WHEREAS, he officially became certified in 1984 as part of the second state-certified class8 ever offered to volunteers in Paulding County; and9 WHEREAS, he completed the county's initial 1st Responder Medical Class in 1988, was10 among the first to finish the inaugural EMT Class, and further advanced his skills by11 participating in the first GEMA Rescue Specialist Class; and12 WHEREAS, in 2017, Troy Cosby continued his dedication to the fire service by becoming13 a member of the Honor Guard; and14 S. R. 187 - 1 - 25 LC 112 2943 WHEREAS, throughout his career, he has remained steadfastly committed to expanding his 15 knowledge and leadership skills, completing courses such as Fire Department Supervision;16 Politics and the White Helmet; Incident Safety Officer; Leadership I, II, and III; and more;17 and18 WHEREAS, Troy Cosby has additionally earned an impressive list of certifications,19 including NPQ Hazmat Technician, NPQ Aircraft Rescue Firefighter, NPQ Apparatus20 Operator – Pumper, NPQ Instructor I & II, NPQ Fire Officer I, and Pressurized Container21 Live Fire Instructor; and22 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high23 ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom24 which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved25 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this27 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 recognize and commend Troy Cosby for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated fire30 service; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most31 sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed33 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Troy Cosby.34 S.
