25 LC 129 0164 Senate Resolution 206 By: Senators Orrock of the 36th, Jackson of the 41st, Parent of the 44th, Harrell of the 40th, Esteves of the 35th and others A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Joseph Marion Binns; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens2 with the passing of Joseph Marion Binns on January 5, 2025; and3 WHEREAS, Joseph Marion Binns was born on July 13, 1942, in Columbus, Georgia, a4 beloved son of Alice and Dr. Joseph Binns Sr.; and5 WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United6 States Army Reserves, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans as an7 Airborne Demolition Specialist; and8 WHEREAS, in 1983, Joseph Marion Binns relocated to Columbus, where he established9 Southern Relocation Services, a commercial moving business that operated across the10 southeastern United States, managing large-scale moves efficiently and reliably; and11 WHEREAS, after returning to Atlanta in the 1990s, he expanded Southern Relocation12 Services to handle commercial projects along much of the East Coast; and13 S. R. 206 - 1 - 25 LC 129 0164 WHEREAS, beyond his career, he had a lifelong passion for aviation, earning his pilot's 14 license at 18 years old, and he loved fishing, golf, motorcycles, long pontoon boat rides, and15 Braves baseball—his favorite spectator sport; and16 WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife of 57 years, Carol, and was17 blessed with three remarkable children, Anthony, Joseph III, and Ward, as well as five18 wonderful grandchildren, Grayson, Nathan, Isabelle, Daniel, and Josephine; and19 WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern20 for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his21 family and friends were admired by others; and22 WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation23 for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he24 made this world a better place in which to live; and25 WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Joseph Marion Binns will long be26 remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who27 had the great fortune of knowing him.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 join in honoring the life and memory of Joseph Marion Binns and express their deepest and30 most sincere regret at his passing.31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed32 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of33 Joseph Marion Binns.34 S.
