55 Congratulating and commending the Lamar County School System, recipient of the Georgia

77 Reads Community Award, for its dedication to literacy advancement; and for other purposes.2
88 WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Literacy is dedicated to improving literacy from birth3
99 through adulthood and recognizes that communities play a critical role in addressing low4
1010 literacy rates; and5
1111 WHEREAS, the Georgia Reads Community Award was established to recognize6
1212 communities across Georgia that have formed partnerships of two or more organizations,7
1313 sustained for at least three years, with a strategic plan and measurable results in literacy8
1414 improvement; and9
1515 WHEREAS, the Lamar County School System, utilizing the L4GA process, has strengthened10
1616 partnerships with local literacy organizations to boost community literacy engagement; and11
1717 WHEREAS, these meaningful partnerships include the City of Barnesville,12
1818 Barnesville-Lamar County Library, Milner Library, Ferst Readers of Lamar County, E.P.13
1919 Roberts Community Center, local daycare centers, and the Lamar County Health14

2323 WHEREAS, the Lamar County School System was selected as a Georgia Reads Community

2525 Award recipient for its diligent efforts to develop and implement innovative programs that17
2626 have significantly increased literacy rates within its communities; and18
2727 WHEREAS, these initiatives have led to measurable improvements in reading proficiency,19
2828 ensuring greater opportunities for success in education and career development; and20
2929 WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of the Lamar County School System and its21
3030 partners serve as an inspiration to others, demonstrating the power of community-driven22
3131 solutions to address literacy challenges.23
3232 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24
3333 congratulate and commend the Georgia Reads Community Award winners, particularly the25
3434 Lamar County School System, for their exemplary service and unwavering commitment to26
3535 improving literacy in their communities.27
3636 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28
3737 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Lamar County29
3838 School System.30
