55 Recognizing and commending James S. Clark, recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

77 Community Service Award; and for other purposes.2
88 WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of the Sherman Town community in Stone Mountain,3
99 Georgia, James S. Clark has faithfully served his fellow citizens as a chauffeur, care giver,4
1010 handyman, and dedicated provider of meals for the homebound and those in need, preparing5
1111 weekly meals and cooking for the Forever Young Senior Group twice a month; and6
1212 WHEREAS, he has further served his community as president of the Stone Mountain Day7
1313 Committee for over 30 years; actively participated in Piney Grove Lodge 585, where he8
1414 served a term as Worshipful Master; and contributed to local sports as a player-coach for the9
1515 Stone Mountain A's softball team for 15 years; and10
1616 WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, he is a lifelong member of St. Paul A.M.E.11
1717 Church who has served as part of the Trustee Board and the St. Paul Male Chorus; and12
1818 WHEREAS, a proud veteran, James S. Clark has also served as a guardian of this nation's13
1919 freedom and liberty with the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam and14
2020 earning two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star; and15

2323 WHEREAS, as additional testament to his dedication to those in need, he has received

2525 numerous awards and recognitions throughout his church and community for his untiring and17
2626 selfless contributions on behalf of others; and18
2727 WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high19
2828 ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom20
2929 which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved21
3030 through overcoming the many challenges of life; and22
3131 WHEREAS, James S. Clark is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable23
3232 reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and24
3333 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary individual be25
3434 appropriately honored during this special time.26
3535 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body27
3636 recognize and commend James S. Clark, recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.28
3737 Community Service Award, and extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and29
3838 success.30
3939 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed31
4040 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to James S. Clark.32
