| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ramadan is the holy month when Muslims worldwide fast not only to renew4 |

| 11 | 11 | | themselves spiritually but also to recognize their responsibility and obligations to the society5 |

| 12 | 12 | | at large as well as to take care of the needy and underprivileged regardless of their religious6 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | or racial background; and7 |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Muslims in Georgia and around the world observe Ramadan by fasting,8 |

| 15 | 15 | | emphasizing self-discipline, worshipping, helping humanity and all living beings, and9 |

| 16 | 16 | | reading the Holy Quran to improve patience, humility, and spirituality; and10 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, a significant holy month11 |

| 18 | 18 | | in the Islamic faith, and a month of sacrifice; contemplation of Ramadan begins on the12 |

| 19 | 19 | | evening of February 28, 2025, based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon; and13 |

| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ramadan will continue until March, when it ends with the sighting of the new14 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | moon and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, signifying an end to the month of fasting; and15 |

| 29 | 29 | | Muslim population is a tapestry of ethnic, racial, linguistic, social, and economic groups; and20 |

| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Georgian Muslims have contributed to every part of society to make21 |

| 31 | 31 | | advancements in medicine, science, engineering, economics, sports, education, military, and22 |

| 33 | 33 | | NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body,24 |

| 34 | 34 | | in support of Muslims throughout Georgia and the United States, recognize the Islamic holy25 |

| 35 | 35 | | month of Ramadan and extend best wishes to all in Georgia and across the world for a joyous26 |

| 37 | 37 | | BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed28 |
