Senate Resolution 349

A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Mary Kay Tucker and dedicating a road in her

memory; and for other purposes.2
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mary Kay Tucker has long been recognized by the citizens of this state3
for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the4
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and5
WHEREAS, she diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,6
talent, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced7
dramatically by her superlative service for 34 years as the Chattooga County clerk; and8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tucker's significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable9
patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the10
citizens of this state earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates;11
and12
WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Tucker was an active member of the13
Alpine Community Church where she taught Sunday school, led the youth group, organized14
Bible school, and maintained the live nativity scene for the Christmas season; and15

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished

Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating a road in her memory.17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL18
ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the portion of State Route 337 from State Route 48 to the19
Georgia/Alabama line in Chattooga County is dedicated as the Mary Kay Tucker Memorial20
Highway.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and22
directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Mary Kay Tucker Memorial23
Highway.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed25
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mrs.26
Mary Kay Tucker and to the Department of Transportation.27
