25 LC 112 3300 Senate Resolution 364 By: Senators Echols of the 49th, Hatchett of the 50th, Dixon of the 45th, Still of the 48th, Goodman of the 8th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Denise Jordan; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, Denise Jordan began her career with the City of Gainesville in July 1990 as an2 entry-level employee within the Gainesville Police Department, and through her dedication3 and excellence, she rose to become city clerk in February 2000; and4 WHEREAS, during her exemplary tenure, she has played a crucial role in modernizing city5 processes, transitioning from manual to electronic processing for agendas, agenda packets,6 and campaign contribution disclosure reports as well as facilitating improvements for7 audio/visual equipment and the podium in the Gainesville Municipal Courtroom; and8 WHEREAS, she further coordinated efforts to recodify the Code of Ordinances and Unified9 Land Development Code as well as led the transformation of the Historic Gainesville City10 Hall basement into a dedicated archive space with guidance and assistance from the Georgia11 Archives, preserving the city's historical records for future generations; and12 WHEREAS, over the past 25 years, Denise Jordan has provided steadfast support to 1313 council members and four city managers; and14 S. R. 364 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3300 WHEREAS, she has long been an active and influential member of the Georgia Municipal 15 Clerks Association, serving in many roles before and after her tenure as president in16 2009-2010, and she was honored as the association's 2015-2016 Clerk of the Year; and17 WHEREAS, she is one of only 15 clerks in the State of Georgia to receive the Master18 Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and she has19 made history as the first clerk in the State of Georgia to become an Athenian Dialogue20 Facilitator through the institute, joining an elite group of only nine facilitators in the region21 and 93 across the United States and Canada; and22 WHEREAS, upon her well-deserved retirement, she looks forward to spending more time23 with family and friends, becoming more active in her church's youth department, remodeling24 her home, taking cake-decorating classes, continuing her nonprofit volunteer work with25 Bloom Enterprises, improving her gardening skills, and traveling; and26 WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this27 remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored during this special time.28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body29 recognize and commend Denise Jordan for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated30 service to the City of Gainesville; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement;31 and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.32 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed33 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Denise Jordan.34 S.
