25 LC 112 3297 Senate Resolution 373 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Kemp of the 38th, Merritt of the 9th, Rhett of the 33rd, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending the American Legion Post 105; and for other purposes. 1 WHEREAS, the American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic,2 mutual-help, war-time veterans organization, and it has since grown into a distinguished3 community-service organization with nearly 3 million members in over 15,000 posts4 worldwide; and5 WHEREAS, chartered on September 20, 1927, by 19 World War I veterans, Fayette County6 Post 105 has upheld a proud legacy of service, with its members contributing to all major7 conflicts and continuously supporting the communities of Fayette County and the State of8 Georgia; and9 WHEREAS, Fayette County Post 105 has met at the historic Log Cabin in Fayetteville,10 Georgia, since 1936, which was constructed through the Works Progress Administration as11 part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal program to provide employment during12 the Great Depression; and13 WHEREAS, in recognition of Women's History Month, Fayette County Post 105 has14 demonstrated outstanding leadership by hosting a Post Dinner and Meeting to honor military15 S. R. 373 - 1 - 25 LC 112 3297 women veterans, acknowledging their sacrifice, service, and the vital role they have played 16 in the United States Armed Forces; and17 WHEREAS, military women veterans have exhibited extraordinary bravery, discipline, and18 selflessness in service to the nation, paving the way for future generations of women while19 preserving the freedoms and values held dear by the American people; and20 WHEREAS, Fayette County Post 105's unwavering dedication to veterans, its commitment21 to community service, and its efforts to honor and uplift military women veterans during22 Women's History Month exemplify the highest ideals of the American Legion.23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body24 recognize and commend the American Legion Post 105 for its service, leadership, and25 dedication to veterans and the community and extend best wishes for continued success.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the American28 Legion Post 105.29 S.
